To provide the required level of protection to
workers, employers must select appropriate
supplied-air respirators and the proper supply
of quality breathing air.
Although there are many so-called breathing
air filters available, few have the capability to
purify the airstream by removing carbon
monoxide and other common air line contaminants. Nomonox purifiers, however, combine
innovative, state-of-the-art design with basic
purification technology to produce high quality,
clean breathing-air. Special airborne contam-
inants-including particles, water vapor,
hydrocarbons, carbon monoxide and other
gaseous impurities-are eliminated.
Nomonox breathing-air purifiers meet the latest
OSHA, NIOSH, EPA, National Fire Protection
Association, and American National Standards
Institute guidelines for the production of Grade
D breathing air.
In addition, Nomonox purifiers
can produce air that meets the Nuclear Regulatory
Commission's Grade E requirement.
Nomonox Continuous Duty Purifier (CDP)
systems are made up of several purification
modules:
1. A Color Guard pre-filter that removes oil
mist and particulates from the air stream.
The filter material changes color to indicate
when the element needs replacement.
2. An adsorber with dual alternating desiccant
beds that capture moisture vapor and
contaminants. The desiccant beds are
continuously rejuvenated by a purge-air
regeneration process, which expels the
captured contaminants.
3. A blue moisture indicator that continuously
shows adsorber's effectiveness.
4. A catalytic converter that oxidizes carbon
monoxide to form carbon dioxide.
5. An activated carbon polisher that adsorbs
and removes unpleasant tastes, odors and
other organic compounds.
6. A particulate afferfilter that removes any
stray catalytic converter and/or activated
carbon assuring dust free air.
Also included with all CDP systems are the
following:
Tower pressure gauges
Purge gauge (Standard on 069 thru 980
models, optional on 017 thru 052 models)
Pressure relief valve
Power on light
Active tower indicator lights
The Nomonox purifiers' control systems are
factory set and calibrated. Once pressurized
and energized, they begin to operate immediately.
In the event of an electrical power failure in
which compressed air continues to be avail-
able, the Nomonox purifier automatically
continues to provide quality breathing air.
When refrigeration-based purifiers experience
failure, moisture is not removed and the
moisture-sensitive catalytic converter is
immediately poisoned, destroying its ability
to remove carbon monoxide.
In addition to low initial cost and maximum
protection, Nomonox offers other key benefits:
Long service life
Minimal routine maintenance*
Safety and reliability of low-pressure
operation
Stationary or portable designs
Custom design for your specific needs
Operates at a fraction of the utility cost of
conventional purification systems
Only the catalytic converter and activated carbon polisher must be
replaced every three months, based on CO contam nation not
exceeding 600 ppm. (See technical manual)
In addition, to their standard teatures Nomonox
Systems can be customized by including:
Aftercooler to cool hot compressed air and condense
water vapor and hydrocarbons
Air/moisture separator to remove condensed liquids
Carbon monoxide monitor
Oxygen deficiency monitor
Low pressure monitor that sounds an alarm if the
compressor malfunctions
Failure-of-power alarm that monitors the electrical
supply
Emergency high-pressure purified bottle-air system
that switches on automatically if any alarm activates
(Bottle not included)
High temperature alarm
Dewpoint monitor
Emergency bypass
Horn
Moisture load control
Failure to shift alarm
High humidity alarm
Inlet & outlet temperature and/or pressure gauges
Isolation valves
After purification air moisturizer
